My name is Lynda O’Connor, thank you for taking the time to get to know me.
Today I’m asking you to believe in me once again. I take my role with our district very seriously and my actions and record have proven this. I am a proven leader who listens to all of our community. I’m here to ensure our district continues to provide a great education for our students and is fiscally responsible and sustainable into the future.
My husband Terry and I met the day before he went off to pilot training with the Air Force. Following a long-distance courtship, we were married in 1982 and finished ten years of active duty service before leaving for Delta Air Lines and another ten years in the Air Force Reserves. We moved to West Chester in 1991 and have found it be a wonderful place to raise our family.
West Chester drew us in as our home because of its beautiful neighborhoods, friendly people, and highly rated school system. We stayed because we saw West Chester as a great place to raise our family and have never looked back. Both our sons are honor graduates from Lakota West. Our oldest son is an Ohio State graduate and currently serves as a flight crew member in the Ohio Air National Guard and is working on his Master’s degree. Our youngest son just graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Ohio State University and is working in Washington D.C. Both are Eagle Scouts and more importantly, people we really enjoy spending time with. You would, too.
I’ve been serving our community since we moved to West Chester in 1991. I began as a trustee for the Rolling Knolls Homeowner’s Association and served as its president for several years. I represented and advocated for homeowners, dealt with zoning issues on Route 42 and monitored township events impacting residents. I volunteered in our son’s schools from kindergarten room mom on, helping wherever needed. I was president of the Parent Teacher Organization, president of the District Parent Council and founding president of the President’s Council. I hold a Bachelor degree in Speech and Language Pathology and a Master’s degree in Education. I’ve had the opportunity to work with many diverse special needs populations and bring an understanding of the uniqueness of every student to the table.
I’m active in the business community. In addition to my role as a member of Butler Tech’s Board of Education for eight years, I lead the Chamber’s Government Issues Committee, serve on the Leadership 21 Alumni Board, and the Ambassador Committee. Our family has started a business which we plan to grow here in West Chester. I’m also a board member of several other organizations including Junior Achievement and Community First Solutions. I’ve been a scout leader for over twenty years, and volunteer for the Community Foundation as well. All of these organizations help our youth and our families, and I’m honored to be a part of that.
I need your vote on November 5th to Keep O’Connor. You have my pledge that I will continue to work hard for you as I have for the past twelve years. Thank you for your consideration.
